Snowdon Gliders is the main free flight centre in North Wales. Courses are based at Snowdon Glider’s own premises situated close to the main flying sites. Snowdon Glider’s BHPA registered instructors work with small groups of students to provide a high standard of tuition and safety. A selection of the best paragliders and flight accessories is also available for students to purchase.

Snowdonia offers superb flying for pilots of every level, from beginner to students on advanced mountain paragliding courses.

Elementary Pilot Paragliding Course

This 3 day course offers the most direct route to gaining an understanding of basic paragliding techniques. You will learn to control the canopy during progressively higher flights, as well as perfecting your take-off and landing skills. You will gain an understanding of the principles of paragliding flight on this course.

Club pilot course

Club Pilot Paragliding Course

On gaining your Elementary Pilot rating you may wish to progress further and become a free flyer in your own right. This 8 day paragliding course will bring you up to Club Pilot level beyond which you have the knowledge to fly without the supervision of an Instructor. During the course you will learn to soar above the level of take off and master the techniques of airborne canopy control. The skills gained on this course will allow you to experience the thrill of hours of sustained flight.

Elementary pilot course

Mountain XC Paragliding Course

As pilots master the skills of ridge soaring and turn their attention to thermal flying, the focus leads to cross country flight. The challenge and adventure of flying in unfamiliar surroundings is unbeatable. However, flying in the mountains requires a more advanced flying technique. This 2 day course is for Club Pilots with 10 hours flying experience. It aims to give an introduction to mountain flying with the objective of looking at the necessary skills and decisions that give us the best chance of soaring away from the familiar environment of the ridge to the freedom of the open skies. You will learn how to achieve your first cross country flights in the mountains. This course, covers all aspects of mountain flying, putting theory in to practice.

Pilot Paragliding Course

This course covers the theory lectures needed for the BHPA Pilot rating. At the end of this 2 day course the BHPA Pilot exam is taken.
